Helen Odar Wolstoncroft, Esq.


Helen’s extensive experience in all areas of intellectual property gives her unique insight into arbitration and mediation of intellectual property issues. Her technical expertise enables her to quickly grasp and understand complex technologies and issues, and her litigation experience enables her to relate to what is at stake if a case proceeds to litigation.

Helen’s in-house experience enables her to understand the business needs and realities of parties involved in a dispute. Her experiences negotiating intellectual property agreements allow her to effectively negotiate terms. The time Helen spent at the Patent Office provides a unique perspective into the way intellectual property is obtained. In view of these diverse experiences, Helen thinks creatively to achieve resolution of disputed issues in a cost-effective and timely manner.

In addition to her role at Optimal Dispute Resolutions, Helen also serves as Of Counsel at Saxton & Stump. Prior to joining Saxton & Stump, Helen practiced at several well-known law firms in Chicago including Kirkland & Ellis; Sidley Austin; and Brinks, Gilson, & Lione, where she was a shareholder.

She started her career in intellectual property as a Patent Examiner in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C . Helen also worked for two large multinational corporations. When she moved to Lancaster, she practiced at Barley, Snyder, Senft & Cohen in their intellectual property group.

Helen has shared her knowledge of intellectual property law while mentoring associates and junior colleagues. She taught Patent Prosecution and Docketing for Paralegals and Intellectual Property Licensing at the John Marshall Law School. She is currently an adjunct professor of law at Penn State Dickinson Law School teaching patent law.

Helen is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She is a member of the American Bar Association and American Intellectual Property Association. She graduated summa cum laude from the American University Washington College of Law. She holds a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
